A practicing witch doctor, Pulmaya was headed down a troubling spiritual path. But everything changed when her grandson invited her to church. When Pulmaya heard the Word preached aloud, a sense of peace washed over her.
Pulmaya put her faith in the Lord, and as she renounced her witch doctor ideology, the spiritual warfare in her life began to fade. But a very special gift drew her closer to God: a solar-powered, hand-held audio Bible. “I used to have to ask whether someone could read the Bible to me,” says Pulmaya. “I would hope a sister from the church would come for that, or the pastor would come.” Now, she listens to the audible Word on a daily basis, clinging to the hope of Christ amid persecution from Hindu neighbors and relatives.
“The audio Bible, it has blessed me,” she exclaims. “I was surprised to hear it in [my own] Newari language. I am very happy that I am able to listen to gospels. I can listen any time. I am very thankful from the depth of my heart.”
