Deep in South Asia, there’s a remote nation shrouded in spiritual darkness.

Nepal—nestled in the Himalayan mountains between India and China—is steeped in false religion. What can change everything here? More Bibles. Help vulnerable believers like Pulmaya grow strong in their faith to advance the gospel. Please make a donation now to give the gift of God’s spoken Word.

Nepal is home to nearly 30 million unreached people.

95% of the population is far from God; millions practice Hinduism, indigenous worship and more. It’s illegal to convert someone to a different religion, so most have never experienced the good news of Jesus Christ.

Our sister in Christ, Pulmaya, was once a witch doctor—until she heard God’s Word! That’s exactly why we need to flood Nepal with something essential: more Bibles.

What an audio Bible means to Pulmaya, an illiterate believer in Nepal.
• Spiritual growth

• Encouragement and hope

• 24/7 access to God’s Word

• Strength despite persecution

• Power to share the gospel

Pulmaya's Story

A practicing witch doctor, Pulmaya was headed down a troubling spiritual path. But everything changed when her grandson invited her to church. When Pulmaya heard the Word preached aloud, a sense of peace washed over her.

Pulmaya put her faith in the Lord, and as she renounced her witch doctor ideology, the spiritual warfare in her life began to fade. But a very special gift drew her closer to God: a solar-powered, hand-held audio Bible. “I used to have to ask whether someone could read the Bible to me,” says Pulmaya. “I would hope a sister from the church would come for that, or the pastor would come.” Now, she listens to the audible Word on a daily basis, clinging to the hope of Christ amid persecution from Hindu neighbors and relatives.

“The audio Bible, it has blessed me,” she exclaims. “I was surprised to hear it in [my own] Newari language. I am very happy that I am able to listen to gospels. I can listen any time. I am very thankful from the depth of my heart.”

In Nepal’s vibrant oral culture, the audible Word is needed more than ever.

23% of Nepali adults are illiterate due to several factors including poverty, lack of education, geographic isolation, minority religious discrimination and more. Your gift today can comfort persecuted believers like Binita, who cannot read but are hungering for the spoken Word of God.

“They said, ‘Why are you becoming a Christian? Hinduism is better. What will you do?’ as if I would be expelled from society and community support,” explains Binita. “The Word of the Lord has given me a lot of enthusiasm,” she says of her audio Bible. “I thank you a lot!”

Hindu nationalism is on the rise

This staunch Hindu nation is home to activists and radical extremists who want to suppress the church in Nepal through Hindu nationalist political ideologies, similar to what is taking place in neighboring India. Vulnerable believers need discreet copies of the Word—SD card Bibles and audio Bibles—to stand against forced conversions, threats, violence and false charges.

“If I’m carrying the [printed] Bible in everywhere, I may labeled as a criminal,” remarks Dili Ram, a Nepali evangelist. After he renounced his position as a Hindu priest and began sharing the gospel, he narrowly escaped false conversion charges. “They tried to put me in jail for five years. I had to fight the district court and high court for two years.”

"So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ." - Romans 10:17
