As persecution of Christians intensifies worldwide, 2024 marked a pivotal year in Global Christian Relief’s mission to serve those underground, imprisoned, and attacked for their faith in Jesus. Through God’s grace and the generous support of believers worldwide, we witnessed extraordinary examples of resilience and transformation across the globe. Our persecution impact report tells their stories.

Our impact reached over 2.2 million beneficiaries across five major regions, with each number representing a life touched, a family supported, or a community strengthened. From the brick kilns of Pakistan to the underground churches of North Korea, from displacement camps in Nigeria to persecuted villages in India, your partnership enabled us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who risk everything for their faith.
Breaking Chains, Building Hope
In Central and East Asia alone, we reached 839,291 beneficiaries through various initiatives. In Pakistan’s brick kilns, we met Azeeb, who spent 25 years trapped in debt bondage. Rising at 4 a.m. daily to work until sunset, he watched his debt grow larger despite his endless labor. Yet his faith never wavered.

“My entire body believes in Jesus,” he testifies. “My hope is only in God. Jesus can help us.” Today, because of generous supporters like you, Azeeb and his family are free from bonded slavery—along with 30 other families. Through our mobile health clinics, we provided medical care to 20,974 brick kiln workers like Azeeb, while equipping 1,244 Christian women and youth with skills training to start businesses. Today, Azeeb is free from bondage and building a new life for his family.
When violence erupted in Jaranwala, we responded swiftly with over 5,400 pounds of food aid. As Daniel, whose home was destroyed in the attacks, shared: “We praise God that after we fled, GCR partners and pastors gave us crucial emergency aid. This food came at a crucial time.”
Middle East and North Africa: God’s Word Brings Hope
In a region where owning a Bible can lead to imprisonment or worse, we impacted 756,238 lives through strategic interventions. “The Bible is very important to me,” shares Kasim, one of our local partners who risks everything to distribute God’s Word in restricted areas. “I believe it is the truth, and I want to share it with everybody else, so they can understand it is the right Word of God.”
Through courageous believers like Kasim, who work tirelessly despite constant danger, we distributed 50,000 Bibles across the region. During harsh winter months, we provided 4,030 blankets to 2,615 Christian families and trained 1,268 Christian leaders in humanitarian community outreach. Each Bible distributed represents not just Scripture shared, but hope delivered to believers hungry for God’s Word.

Building Resilient Communities
In Nigeria, where Christian communities face increasing pressure from extremist groups, we served 108,615 beneficiaries. Among them was Milka, who returned to her displacement camp after graduating college to serve others. At age 12, she fled Boko Haram’s violence, spending days without food or water. Today, she works in a mobile medical clinic, bringing healing to fellow displaced believers.

“I’m very, very happy because when I see them well, healthy, I’m happy,” she shares. “I think I have big dreams over here. I want to become someone that people will rely on.” Her transformation exemplifies the impact of your support.
Through our programs, 700 internally displaced persons received clean water access through new boreholes and toilets. Another 6,500 found hope and healing through monthly small groups and church services. Each gathering becomes a testament to resilience, as believers who lost everything choose to worship and encourage one another.
Global Impact Through Five Key Pillars
Our holistic approach to supporting persecuted Christians focuses on sustainable, long-term change. When we met Azeeb in Pakistan’s brick kilns and Safiratu in Nigeria’s camps, we saw firsthand how comprehensive support transforms entire communities.
[Explore our strategic approach]
Through five key pillars, we’re building lasting change:
- Fostering Generational Faith: Training 1,268 Christian leaders to shepherd communities through persecution
2. Addressing Deep-Rooted Causes: Starting 1,429 businesses to break cycles of poverty
3. Spreading the Gospel: Distributing 238,100 Bibles in restricted nations
4. Ensuring Survival: Providing 482 food kits and shelters to displaced families
5. Creating More Freedom: Advocating for religious liberty worldwide
Making Change Through Advocacy
While providing direct aid remains crucial, our advocacy efforts create systemic change. In 2024, we engaged over 1,000 Congressional staffers regarding persecution in Nigeria.
In India, where persecution intensifies, we met Suman, whose own family members attacked her Christian community after her sister was beaten to death for her faith. “No matter how many troubles I face, I found life in Jesus,” she declares. “My life has changed. I wouldn’t think of turning back.” Her courage represents the spirit of the 500,040 beneficiaries we served across Southeast Asia.
Through strategic advocacy, we:
- Secured the release of imprisoned pastors
• Protected Christian families from militia threats
• Advanced religious freedom legislation
• Raised awareness of persecution worldwide
A Vision of Hope
As Pastor Omar from Sudan witnessed, “The support you sent has saved the lives of 400 children in one day. These children’s lives have been made better because of your support. God is good for bringing you into this situation.”

Every number represents a story of transformation. Behind each statistic stands a person like Suzanne, choosing forgiveness over bitterness. A believer like Kasim, risking everything to share God’s Word. A young leader like Milka, returning to serve those who suffer.
Looking ahead, we’re humbled by how God has used your generosity to transform countless lives. Each story represents hope restored—a family receiving emergency aid after fleeing violence, a young believer holding their first Bible, a widow starting a business to support her children, or a pastor receiving training to strengthen their underground church.
Through your continued partnership, we remain committed to standing with these courageous believers until all can worship freely and without fear. Together, we are making a lasting difference in the lives of persecuted Christians around the world.
