When a military regime attacked the Christian-majority town of Pyidawtha, Myanmar, in April 2024, nearly 960 families lost everything in a single day.
Their homes were destroyed. Their possessions burned. Their sense of security shattered.
Since that devastating attack, survivors have been living in conditions no family should endure – often crammed with several other families in animal stalls, exposed to the elements, struggling to make it through each day.
But for 24 Christian families, hope is finally taking shape.
Shelter in a Conflict Zone
Thanks to the compassion of supporters around the world, 24 families are receiving weather-resistant shelters designed to last up to five years. These portable structures provide the long-term security displaced families need to begin rebuilding their lives.
Our partners have worked diligently to get materials to these families, despite the challenges of operating in an active conflict zone – where military checkpoints, confiscations, and bribes are a common threat.
Every shelter delivered represents not just resources, but courage and commitment in the face of danger.
More Than a Roof
Aung*, one of the fathers who now has shelter for his family again, shared his gratitude:
"I don't have the words to fully express my gratitude for your generosity. Thank you for standing with us in this dark time – for your time, your resources, and your compassion. May our God bless you."
For Aung and families like his, these shelters represent far more than a roof.
"Your gift of roof materials has given us more than just protection from the rain," he explained. "It has given us hope and a path to the future."
Hope. Dignity. The chance to rebuild.
These are the gifts that compassion provides when it meets an urgent need.
