At a time when many of us gathered with loved ones to celebrate Christmas, widowed Christian mothers in Pakistan's brick kilns faced a different reality.
As Christians and as women, they have to navigate significant disadvantages in their communities. The holiday season, which should be a time of celebration with their children, often brings extra challenges with the hike of food prices.
But this Christmas, 150 Christian mothers were given the chance to celebrate without the worry.
More than Groceries
*Rihana, a widowed mother of three, felt the fear and uncertainty of facing this Christmas alone. After losing her husband suddenly to a heart attack, she says “I worried deeply about how I would provide food, care, and a secure future for my children.”
But thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Rihana and 149 other Christian widows received something that changed their Christmas: food gift baskets filled with staples.
Each basket contained flour, sugar, rice, cooking oil, chickpeas, lentils, grains, salt, pickles, tea, and noodles – everything needed to prepare a proper Christmas meal and maintain food security for weeks to come.
These baskets represent far more than groceries.
They mean protection against seasonal price hikes that force impossible choices. They mean stability in the midst of uncertainty. They mean the dignity of celebrating Christmas without the shadow of worry.
Most importantly, these baskets were a message: You are not alone.
"These thoughtful gifts arrive at a time when expenses are high and celebrations are important for our children," Rihana explained. "They bring happiness into our home and allow us to celebrate these special occasions with respect and joy."
For 150 mothers who have known profound loss, this act of compassion restored what the holidays are meant to bring: joy, celebration, and hope.
Looking forward
The impact of this generosity doesn't end with Christmas.
Because of our supporters' generosity, these same 150 families will receive another food basket at Easter, extending the blessing through another meaningful holiday season. This compassion will continue to bring stability, dignity, and joy to homes when they need it most.
Pray with us

- Pray for the health and well-being of these widows and their children through the winter season
- Pray for encouragement and strength for these mothers as they work to provide for their families

The need in Pakistan continues Continue the impact
The needs in Pakistan's brick kiln communities remain urgent. Families stuck in bonded slavery continue to face economic uncertainty with limited access to essentials. Will you help us free a family?
