How 17 Water Filters are Touching 1,200+ Lives in Uzbekistan

How 17 Water Filters are Touching 1,200+ Lives in Uzbekistan

In rural Uzbekistan, nearly 30% of residents lack access to clean drinking water.

The extremely dry climate, landlocked location, and the Aral Sea disaster (the rapid, irreversible drying of what was once the world's fourth-largest lake) have created a water crisis affecting millions across Central Asia.

For families in remote villages, contaminated water is a daily health threat.

But recently, our supporters changed that for hundreds of Uzbeks.

17 Filters, 1,200 Lives

With the generous support that came in for persecuted Christians, 17 water filtration systems were installed in rural households across nine regions of Uzbekistan, providing clean, safe drinking water to approximately 1,200 men, women, and children.

Before the filters, water contamination levels in some communities measured as high as 999 meaning the water was dangerously unsafe. Now, the filtered water tests below 50, which is considered very clean.

But the impact goes beyond health.

More Than Water

Clean water was only part of the impact our supporters made.

Water resources in Uzbekistan are often shared. When families with water filters began sharing clean water with their neighbors without agenda, without strings attached something remarkable happened.

Hearts began to soften. Conversations started. Trust grew.

The simple act of offering safe drinking water became a bridge.

George, a recipient of one of the filters, shares his gratitude:

"We are deeply grateful. Having a filter in our home that provides clean drinking water at any time is truly an invaluable blessing for our family and for everyone with whom we are able to share this water."

Notice the part where George said: "for everyone with whom we are able to share this water."

The filters aren't just for individual households. They're meant to be shared creating natural opportunities for community, conversation, and connection.

'Did You Really Travel That Far Just for Us?'

One filtration system was installed in one of the most remote locations. When residents were informed that water filters would be delivered, many responded with genuine surprise:

"Did you really travel that far just for us?"

For isolated communities, the arrival of these water filters carried a powerful message:

You are not forgotten.

Entire communities are experiencing the tangible love of family who care about their well-being – even from thousands of miles away

Projects like this one prove that change is possible – one filter, one household, one community at a time.

Prayers for Uzbekistan

The water crisis in Central Asia affects millions of residents living in remote, forgotten communities. Keep Uzbekistan and residents' access to clean water in your prayers.

And please pray that this water project would continue to open doors to relationships in Uzbek communities.  Ask God to soften hearts and make way for meaningful conversations as families share water with their neighbors.
