10 ways to spread the Gospel across the world

Spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ is a calling for all believers. As Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). Sharing the good news of Jesus brings hope, salvation, and eternal life to those who hear it. Here are ten ways you can spread the gospel across the world, whether you are a beginner or looking to deepen your efforts.

1. Pray for Guidance from the Holy Spirit

Before taking any action, seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. Pray for wisdom, courage, and the right opportunities to share the Word of God. Ask God to prepare the hearts of those you will encounter and to give you the words to faithfully share the gospel.

Consider the power of prayer by turning your attention to the story of our persecuted sister, Suzanne from Nigeria. She was attacked by Boko Haram Islamic extremists and left for dead. But she survived and went on to heal spiritually by embracing prayer—and offering her attackers forgiveness due to their violent actions which were committed in ignorance. While Suzanne is now blind due to the injuries she sustained, the Holy Spirit has given her a tender heart for those who are far from God. She says she would invite her attackers to dinner and share the love of Christ with them.

2. Share God’s Love Through Your Actions

Actions often speak louder than words. Demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ through your kindness, generosity, and compassion. When others see the light of Christ in you, they become curious and open to hearing more about your faith in Jesus.

Just look to the example of our brother in Christ, Dongwon from North Korea. It was the kindness of a stranger that led this atheist defector to accept Jesus into his heart. A pastor who had never met Dongwon before took the time to connect with him on a day when he was feeling suicidal, giving him the gift of hope and encouragement—and ultimately bringing him back from the edge of despair and into the family of Christ. Sometimes quality time can be the most loving gift you can offer to someone who doesn’t yet know the Lord.

3. Use Social Media Platforms to Share the Good News

In today’s digital age, social media platforms are powerful tools for spreading the gospel. Create social media pages dedicated to sharing Bible verses, inspirational messages, and testimonies. Use your personal accounts to share your faith and invite discussions about the good news of Jesus.

How to Spread the Gospel on Social Media:

  • Post daily Bible verses and reflections.
  • Share testimonies of how God has worked in your life.
  • Engage with followers by responding to comments and messages.
  • Use hashtags like #JesusChrist, #GoodNews, and #FaithInJesus to reach a wider audience.

For an example of this opportunity, don’t miss the story of one of our ministry partners in the South Asian nation of Pakistan. While we can’t reveal this partner’s name for security purposes, each year they conduct hundreds of prayerful conversations through social media tools like Facebook Messenger. This allows them to safely connect with former Muslims and spiritual seekers who are on a quest for truth in a nation that often persecutes Christians.

Following their lead, you too, can offer to have private conversations on social media to answer any questions that nonbelievers may have about becoming a Christ follower.

4. Tell Your Personal Testimony

Your personal story of faith can be incredibly impactful. Share how you came to know Jesus, how He has transformed your life, and how His love has sustained you. Personal testimonies resonate deeply with others and make the gospel relatable.

Take a moment to see how sharing a testimony can be so impactful. Our brother in Christ, Azad, was once a Muslim extremist. Now, he shares his story of how Jesus visited him in a dream and led him to renounce his evil ways and become a Christian. Azad’s testimony can be very powerful because he lives in the Middle East among hundreds of millions of Muslims who haven’t heard of Jesus as Lord.

5. Distribute Christian Literature

Handing out Bibles, tracts, and Christian books is a traditional yet effective way to spread the Word of God. These materials can reach people in places where digital media cannot, offering them a chance to explore the gospel at their own pace.

6. Engage in Community Service

Participate in or organize community service projects, because helping those in need is a practical way to share God’s love. Whether it’s feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, or helping the homeless, your actions can open up opportunities to conversations about Jesus Christ and His message of salvation.

7. Start or Join a Small Group

Small groups or Bible studies are excellent for deepening faith and encouraging others. Invite friends, family, or coworkers to join a group where you can discuss Bible verses, share the good news of Jesus, and support each other in your faith journeys.

8. Utilize Your Talents and Skills

God has given each of us unique talents and skills. Use your gifts to spread the gospel effectively. If you’re a musician, write and perform songs that glorify God. If you’re a writer, create blog posts or articles about faith. Whatever your talent, use it to share God’s love and His Word.

9. Engage in Open and Respectful Dialogue

Engaging in respectful conversations with unbelievers about your faith can be a powerful way to share the gospel. Listen to their views, share your own, and answer their questions with kindness and respect. Remember, spreading the gospel is not about winning arguments but about sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

How to Spread the Gospel to Unbelievers:

  • Build genuine relationships based on respect and love.
  • Share your testimony and how your faith impacts your life.
  • Invite them to church events or small group meetings.
  • Be patient and understanding of their doubts and questions.

10. Participate in Mission Trips

If you have the opportunity, participate in mission trips. These trips allow you to spread the gospel in different parts of the world, often reaching people who have never heard of Jesus Christ. Mission trips can be life-changing experiences, both for those you serve and for yourself.

The Bottom Line

Spreading the gospel is a fulfilling and essential part of our faith. Whether you are just beginning or looking to enhance your efforts, these ten ways can help you share the good news of Jesus Christ effectively. Remember, it’s not about how much you do but how faithfully and lovingly you share the gospel (1 Corinthians 13:1-3). Trust in the Holy Spirit to guide you and empower you as you work to fulfill the Great Commission.

As we go forth to spread the Word of God, let’s remember the promise in Isaiah 55:11: “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” With faith in Jesus and a heart full of love, we can make a significant impact on the world—just like our persecuted brothers and sisters around the globe.

By embracing these methods, we can all contribute to spreading the eternal life-giving message of Jesus Christ. Let’s take every opportunity to share God’s love and the transformative power of the gospel.
