In May of 2019, Pastor Wing received a similar fine. The church was also banned and surrounded by policemen for 30 days. The congregation fell under regular monitoring. In response, the church met in different homes and spaces, but those were routinely raided.
The Xunsiding Church is the largest house church in Xiamen and has been around for nearly 400 years. Says Pastor Wing in response to the fine, “Thank God for allowing us to have a part in His affliction, and especially thankful that on earth we have no property for the court-enforced implementation, which is definitely a great grace of God.”
Pastor Wing’s faith is reminiscent of 2 Corinthians 4:17-18: “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Join me in prayer for our steadfast brother in Christ.
Lord, You are our provider, strength, refuge and shield. We ask You show Yourself mighty and remove the fines against the Xunsiding Church. Let Your favor and blessings rest upon their congregation to fulfill all the work You have called them to do in this life. Thank You for filling them with faith and boldness.
Let Your church in China never grow weary in doing good, but continue to seek You with all of their hearts, souls, minds and strength. Remove every hindrance blocking Your gospel from spreading in this country. In Your name. Amen.
