Free National Day of Prayer Guide
In preparation for today’s event, our organization has prepared a complimentary one-sheet prayer guide for your use; it features six prayers for our great nation as well as accompanying scripture verses for reference. Plus, you’ll enjoy a bit of history regarding the initial formation of the National Day of Prayer.
This year’s National Day of Prayer theme, “Lift up the Word—Light Up the World,” is based on scripture from 2 Samuel 22:29-31, which says, “You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, His way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.”
Please hold this scripture and theme in your heart and know that millions of people within the Body of Christ are praying alongside you today. We encourage you to tell others about the National Day of Prayer as well by sharing the prayer resource with your family members, friends, and fellow church members.

Heavenly Father, we humbly come before You now on the National Day of Prayer. As we bow our heads and quiet our hearts, please impress upon us how You would have us pray and intercede for our nation and the persecuted church today.
Lord, we ask You to turn our nation toward You and Your ways. Draw those who are far from You to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ. Lead them to the fellowship of the church and help them embrace community within the Body of Christ. May a spirit of revival come.
Help our nation’s leaders to make godly decisions rooted in Your eternal wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Let America be a beacon of hope for our suffering brothers & sisters in Christ. May we cherish our ability to worship You freely, and champion religious freedom around the world so that one day our family in Christ can also worship without fear of threats, violence or persecution. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.Â
