Kenneth Elliot and his wife, Jocelyn, persecuted Christians in Burkina Faso, ran a hospital in Djibo that held 120 patients. He was known as the “Doctor of the Poor” and “Savior of the Sahel” because he didn’t charge for his services as a surgeon. But the greatest challenge of his life was just on the horizon.

In January 2016, the hospital closed down when the couple were kidnapped by Al-Qaeda. Thankfully, Jocelyn was let go the next month, but for Elliot it was a much different story.  He was held against his will for seven years.

What must have been going through his mind? Fear? Escape? Wondering if he would ever see his family
again?

His situation brings Psalm 121:1-3 to “I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—He who watches over you will not slumber.

”Then, after years of seemingly unending captivity, a miracle occurred: Dr. Elliot was set free. Not only
was he freed, but he was unharmed and able to return home.

Kenneth shares, “We wish to express our thanks to God and all who have continued to pray for us.”

The battle was truly won in prayer. We serve a mighty and powerful God that can move mountains.

Let’s pray for the Elliot family.

Lord God, we thank You for the miracle You did in Kenneth Elliot's life. We give You all the glory! We ask
You would heal any trauma caused during his time as prisoner.

Also, we ask You would help the body of Christ in Burkina Faso that is facing persecution. Lift their spirits
and give them the grace to overcome all.

And please touch the hearts of these terrorist groups and bring them to salvation. Let there be a Saul-to-Paul transformation in each and every one of their lives. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
