Persecuted believer in the Middle East smuggles Bibles

October 17, 2023 by Abigail Hart in Middle East

Simco*—a former Muslim—was transformed after he came to faith in Jesus Christ. Today, he’s not just a fervent believer; he’s a Bible smuggler in one of the most dangerous places on Earth.

Simco, a persecuted believer in the Middle East, boldly operates a clandestine Bible printing press in his home country—an action that could cost him his life.

Inside a secret warehouse, he and his network mass-produce thousands of Bibles in different languages. Then they risk everything to transport God’s Word across the border and into the hands of persecuted believers.

Simco’s work is absolutely critical for God’s kingdom. Why? Because more than 300 million Muslims reside in the Middle East, and they don’t know the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. Simply put, a copy of the Bible can change everything.

Consider a gift of $5 today to send a Bible to our persecuted family in deepest need.

But this work is not without risk. As a persecuted believer himself, Simco has been arrested three times. He’s also endured five assassination attempts.

When asked how he rises above the persecution, Simco says, “The Holy Spirit that I have in my heart, He made me really strong and gave me the strength to keep going.”

Because the Bible is forbidden here, grave danger lurks all around them. Simco shares, “Right now, we are still alive and have been protected. It’s because of the other believers’ prayers—because of your prayers.”

Let’s take a moment to lift up Simco now, a persecuted believer in the Middle East.

God, thank You for the bold faith of Simco. We pray for an outpouring of supernatural protection upon him and his Bible printing press.

Father, we declare 2 Thess. 3:1-3 over Simco: “… Brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly … pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people … the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”

Lord, we know that no amount of persecution can stop what You have set into motion, for Your church is strong and resolute in the face of the enemy’s schemes. We proclaim that Your Word will spread across the Middle East and into the hearts and minds of the millions who are far from You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
