The International Day of Prayer 2024: five ways to participate

October 14, 2024 by Abigail Hart in International Day of Prayer

1. Request Your Free Prayer Kit for the International Day of Prayer

The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2024. This year’s theme is based on Scripture from Deuteronomy 31:6, which says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” In keeping with this theme, we’re excited to offer you a complimentary prayer kit for The International Day of Prayer. This prayer resource contains a handful of items that will help you pray for your brave brothers & sisters in Christ around the world:

• Special prayers for six regions of the globe
• Scripture excerpts from the Bible
• Stories of impact from each of the six regions
• Exclusive video of our persecuted family
• A brief history of the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted

This resource was designed to be used by individuals and groups alike; it can be used at home during your personal prayer time with the Lord, in corporate fellowship at church, or with a small group. Please consider sharing this free prayer kit resource with family, friends, and fellow church members from your congregation. This is a simple and effective way to help raise awareness for the suffering of the persecuted church.

2. Watch an Exclusive Video Sneak Peek

This year, on the International Day of Prayer 2024, we’re honored to share exclusive video from South Asia—a hotbed for Christian persecution. Watch as the GCR team prays for Simran, a Christian widow who lost her husband to extremist violence, and Pastor Kumar, who was viciously attacked after he converted to Christianity.

You can lift up these hard-pressed believers in your personal prayer time on the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted, and help us raise awareness for Christian persecution by passing this video onward to a friend. We’ll share more details about Simran and Kumar in January 2025, so enjoy the sneak peek— and please stay tuned!

3. Join our Livestream on The International Day of Prayer

On the morning of Sunday, November 3, Global Christian Relief will host a special livestream event on social media! This online gathering, titled “Live with Dr. David Curry on The International Day of Prayer 2024,” will take place on both Facebook and Instagram, offering viewers the opportunity to commune together in a virtual setting on behalf of our persecuted family. Our livestream attendees typically tune in from a variety of states across the U.S. Some participants even tune in from far-away places like Pakistan and India, where persecution is an ongoing concern. So don’t miss this special time of intercession as we lift up the persecuted church before the Lord.

You can access the International Day of Prayer livestream on November 3, 2024 by visiting the Global Christian Relief Facebook page and scrolling down to the video player. Please note: No login is required. If you see a pop-up window prompting you to log in, you may click the X in the upper right-hand corner to close the window and return to the Facebook page without having to log in.

5. Go Deeper on Individual Stories of Persecution

Our prayer kit for the International Day of Prayer 2024 features short stories about several individuals from the persecuted church who exemplify courage amid adversity. We invite you to get more details on each of these stories by visiting the GCR blog.

• Watch Deborah recount her harrowing escape from Boko Haram in Nigeria.
• Learn how Yousuf & GCR are helping suffering Christians in war-torn Gaza.
• Read Dr. David Curry’s remarks on persecution in Latin America, including more on church leader Rolando Alvarez.
• Watch Dongwon describe how he supports the underground church in North Korea with one-to-one, digital ministry.
• Watch Pulmaya discuss the persecution she endured in Nepal, after she left Hinduism.

During the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, we encourage you to consider sharing one or more of these stories with someone you know. Persecution is often poorly understood in the West and rarely covered in mainstream media. But together, we can make a difference for those who suffer because of their faith.
